Daniel Dobson
Daniel Dobson founded Dobson Analytics. He is a doctoral candidate in organizational change and leadership at the University of Southern California and has served twenty years in the U.S. Army.
Daniel founded Dobson Analytics to build transparent evidence-based analytical tools for consumers. Residents Almanac grew out of a research question in economics: which measures of a place predict whether it will stay a good place to live, and how should a person weigh them against appeal? Scout applies the same evidence standard to a question small businesses face: are the reviews and mentions they see what they appear to be?
His career has run on two tracks. In the Army Reserve he leads a tactical psychological operations detachment, supporting multinational and joint training exercises and three ongoing missions. Earlier assignments took him to the Horn of Africa, where he wrote the operating procedures for narrative television and film products and worked with local, UN, African Union and private partners on counter-terror and anti-poaching efforts.
In the private sector he served as Chief of Staff of The National Science Institute, where he ran daily operations across eight member-access laboratories, led a staff of fifteen and about 150 monthly volunteers, and introduced a Lean Six Sigma training programme. Before that he spent a decade as Executive Director of Fuse Pictures, a media consultancy with clients on three continents, and produced a seven-part documentary series that premiered at SXSW and earned selections at Telluride and AFI Docs.
He holds a Master of Education in Organizational Leadership from National University and a Bachelor of Arts in Film from Cornerstone University. His doctoral study at USC examines how researchers in cognitive warfare regard the contributions of practitioners, the same line between evidence and practice the company rests on.
